I am very scared of spiders. I think they are beautiful, but they move too quickly. Huntsman spiders haunt me, they flash across my mind as I try to sleep. In the past, drawing animals that scare me, has helped ease my fears. Exploring their structure and learning their anatomy guides me towards an understanding of the creature. I drew detailed tarantulas over fifty times for a previous uni assignment. This sadly did not provide me much help, so it was time to blow up the scale, and isolate a huntsman.

Like Brutus and Bruta, Muffin is also made of recycled plastic, yarn and fabric.

I would say that now I can hold the smaller guys, but I am still afraid of large, thick, quick spiders. Nighttime terror has reduced after entertaining the perspective of a spider. If I was a spider, I’d be too focused on finding a suitable dry corner, to care about the useless mound of hot flesh in the way of my mission. Understanding the creature is important!
