Brutus is the caterpillar of a white-stemmed acacia moth, also known as chelepteryx chalepteryx. These species are primarily found in eastern Australia and feed on acacia tree leaves. I made Brutus during the time that the species is most active (March-June), sightings of the acacia moth only seem to peak during these cooling months. I have attached a video a couple scrolls down which details the making process of this sculpture.
